Crafting Forever Thank You Cards – The Pootler’s Design Team Challenge Week 2

My crafting style is very simple but with added detail, they look lovely in the flesh. I’m not sure if my photography skills actually do these cards justice. There is  dazzling diamond glitter detail on the paint brushes. Wink of Stella on the plant pot and a little bit of linen thread added to tie the thank you sentiment to the pot. I have chosen Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist to highlight the pots and to give the card a border which lifts the lovely image and is perfect for anyone giving you a crafty present this year.

LARGE LUXURY CHRISTMAS CRACKERS

Sunday 10 December 2017

This weeks project is a quick and easy large luxury Christmas cracker. You can use coloured cardstock to co-ordinate with your Christmas table or the beautiful Year of Cheer Speciality Designer Series Paper.

If you are anything like me I leave my Christmas crackers right up until the last moment to make and that doesn’t give me much time to complete each one. Honestly, I never  learn! So today I wanted to show you that using the beautiful DSP that is available from Stampin’ Up! you can make some lovely ones without spending loads of time. Year of Cheer is not only pretty but comes in 4 designs and you get 3 sheets of each and I think will look elegant on every Christmas table. But if you do get an extra hour then a cardstock version can look just as good and so elegant too with the added bonus that you choose from the many colours available and co-ordinate with your room.

  • DSP or Cardstock to measure 11 3/4″ x 7 1/4″
  • Loo roll or make your own tube insert to measure 6 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ (view my video to see how I measure mine)
  • Score on the Long side: 2 3/4″ then 3 2/8″ then 3 3/4″ turn and score exactly the same on the opposite side.
  • Score on the Short side: 1 1/8″ then 2 1/4″ then 3 3/8″ then 4 1/2″ then 5 5/8″             and 6 3/4″

What a fabulous stampset, just perfect for me. For my first challenge I wanted something really elegant and totally me. I took my inspiration from one of my own designer handbag downscaling it to make these cute little bags, just perfect for gifting jewellery.

Christmas Advent Calendar. Using Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper and 6 x 6″ Kraft card – all Stampin’Up products.

Oh how I loved making this project to share with you, so pretty yet so simple too. I asked my son Louis if he wanted a bought advent calendar or homemade this year? He said bought please until I started putting this together and then quickly changed his mind. No one is too old for an advent calendar, I don’t think anyway.

  • Box : 6 x 6″ cardstock
  • On the first side Score at 1″
  • On the second side score at 1/2″ then 1″ then 2 7/8″ then 3 3/8″ then 3 7/8″ and 5 3/4″

CABLE KNIT – PROSECCO GIFT BOX

Prosecco Gift Box using Stampin’ Up Cable Knit embossing folder and Merry Little Labels Stamp Set and co-ordinating Punch.

I love this adorable gift box. I’ve sized it to fit a mini bottle of Prosecco and there is also a simple structure inside to secure the bottle in place so there isn’t any rattling around. I think it’d make a perfect Secret Santa gift. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like the odd glass of prosecco or two, but if not then it’s still a great size to fill with fabulous chocolates or a lovely gift. The overall measurement is 2 1/4″ x 8 1/4″ and I’ve only used a single sheet of 12″ x 12″ cardstock and that includes the cute little gift tag too.

  • For the bottle you will need a sheet of cardstock that measures 11 7/8″ x 9 1/2″ you will use the remainder for the gift tag and the structure to hold the bottle in place.
  • Score on the short side 2 1/4″ then 4 1/2″ then 6 3/4″ and 9″
  • Score on the long side 2 1/4″ and 10 1/2″
  • To secure your bottle inside you will need 1 x piece that measures 4 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ score on the long side at 1″ turn and score the other side at 1″ and 2 x pieces that both measure 2 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ score on the short side at 1″ on both pieces.
  • You will need to punch a hole using the 1 1/4″ circle punch

FOIL SNOWFLAKE CHRISTMAS GIFT BAGS

Christmas Gift Bags using Foil Snowflakes, Year of Cheer and Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper – Stampin’ Up products.

Both of these Christmas DSP packs are so beautiful I couldn’t decide which I wanted to showcase so decided to use both. I really do find it hard to cut into such pretty paper so I wanted to make something that would use a whole sheet of 12 x 12″ without cutting anything off and came up with these lovely bags which also have a cute back seam and tied with a bow left long which I think looks elegant from the front and back.

I created a sturdy fan closure that looks super cool with the added touch of a pretty Foil Snowflake which kind of steals the show don’t you think?

  • For the bag you will need a sheet of 12 x 12″ Designer Series Paper
  • Score on one side 2″ and 10″ (this is your top and bottom)
  • Score the other side at 2 1/8″ then 3 1/8″ then 4 1/8″ then 7 7/8″ then 8 7/8″ and 9 7/8″
  • To make the fan you will need a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures 10cm x 20cm (I normally use inches but for ease of measurements it was far simpler to use cm’s in this case)
  • Score the short side down the middle at 5cm
  • Score the long side every 1cm finishing at 19cm

SEASONAL CHUMS CHRISTMAS GIFT TAGS

Christmas Gift Tags using Seasonal Chums stamp set and Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper – Stampin’ Up products.

After my last project I really wanted to create some fun gift tags more suitable for kids or even big kids presents. These are so adorable everybody loves Rudolph and Snowmen and I just love these little guys. I kept to the layered theme so that the message inside is kept a secret until Christmas day.

I also kept to the traditional Christmas colours this time using Real Red and Garden Green, but you honestly don’t have to, anything goes. There isn’t even a layered square or stitched framelit in-sight on this project!

I finished off by creating a simple little box to put them in as they are perfect to give as a gift or to sell at a Christmas Fayre.

For the box you need a piece of cardstock that measures 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″

  • Score on the short side at 1 1/4″
  • Score on the long side at 2 1/4″ then 3 1/2″ then 5 3/4″ and 7″
  • For the tags you will need 1 that measures 2″ x 4 3/8″ and 1 that measures 2″ x 3 7/8″
  • You will need a couple of scraps of DSP that measure 2″ x 3/4″ for the tag and 2 1/4″ x 3/4″ for the box.

Do watch my video below to see how I put them together and don’t forget if you do like this project then please subscribe to see all of my new projects!

CONTEMPORARY CHRISTMAS GIFT TAGS AND BOX

Christmas tags and box using the Christmas Quilt stamp set and Quilt Builder Framelits – Using Stampin’ Up products.

A pretty contemporary gift box containing Christmas Tags. A lovely project to make in advance. I always run out of tags in the run up to Christmas and find myself with so little time so tend to start making mine quite early and I’m really pleased with these results and they are just perfect for adult presents.

Just choose your favourite colour cardstock and team it with some shimmering foil. I chose Garden Green for mine with silver foil. I made some in Smoky Slate and also Rich Razzleberry which my mum took off me when she came to visit. She loved them!

I used Layering Squares and Stitched Shapes Framelits (one of my favourites) to layer up my design and finished it off using the beautiful star from the Quilt Builder Framelits adding a single silver Rhinestone to the middle. I also heat embossed my sentiment to give that added luxury feel.

When cut out :-

  • The smallest scallop measures 3/4″
  • The smallest stitched square framelit measures 1 3/16″
  • The larger scallop measures 1 1/4″

Tags – Cut 5 in whisper white and 4 in your chosen cardstock – 2″ x 4 1/8″

(Note – if you cut 2 x 2″ strips off the length of your cardstock for your 4 x tags the remaining cardstock is used to make up the box)

  • Box Measures 7 3/4″ x 8 1/4″ and you will need to score:-
  • On the short side 5/8″ then 1 1/4″ turn and repeat on the opposite side
  • On the long side 3 1/2″ and 4 3/4″
  • Belly Band Cut 1 x 2″ x 9 3/4″

Score at 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″ then punch both ends using your scalloped tag topper punch
